Barcelona on Bayswater

Architecture used to be the staple of The Worst of Perth, but personalities (if you can call Howard Sattler a personality) and politics seem to have been dominant recently. So let’s get back to our roots. Don’t let anyone tell you that Western Australian architecture doesn’t have vision and flair, or that it doesn’t have the courage to dream and to innovate. Frankly I’m sick of these Gaudi and Gehry imitators clogging the city with their organic forms, their decon pomo and their exotic materials like this building in Bayswater. This sort of artifice just gives me the shits.

Kookaburra sits in old Nanjing

Ratbag23 sent in this lovely one dollar Kookaburra from China. A labourer was exploited for this? Sewing the head on upside down should qualify for an extra beating by the overseer. But for a dollar, never mind the quality, feel the beak.

Weekend Worstoff 22

I have been remiss in not putting up this shot of Paul (Knowallus Blowhardus) Murray gleefully provided by a media deep throat. Does everyone in the media including West journos also think he’s a cunt? Apparently so. This is the man around 1987, before he got his deep insight into how right he was all the time. He seems to have a touch of the Jack van Tongerens about him. (see below). Throaty, do you have the rest of that text? If it’s saying how journos should not let their personal feelings interfere with a story, it might be relevant now.

And they looked from Jack to Paul and couldn't tell the difference.

Can you see the difference?

Nice typo find by Skink. Gary Ashead.

Also from The West, Poor Lisa suggests that Charmaine may be writing as well as responding in her always stupid dream interpretation column. Charmaine always seems slightly retarded. Why does The West continue with this trash? Looks like some wag (Skink, Bento?) is pulling Charmaine’s chain to me. Dreams of Jesus bleeding on an inverted cross? Death may mean a time of change in life? Gold. Perhaps we should have a TWOP event, where we all send a dream into Charmaine.

Charmaine, I dream I am a columnist for your paper. I have a massive head that looks like a half baked loaf of bread. I spout bullshit and say “At first blush”, and “methinks”, as I walk my doggie around a suburb filled with arseholes…

David Cohen highlights an excellent photo from the Hip E club’s gallery. Why is this included? Maybe they really were that fuzzy David. Looks like something that Charmaine might need to interpret. The guy at the back may have 2 mouths. Next stop Jesus on an inverted cross.

Ratbag 23 has sent in an excellent pic from Busselton. Is the spelling of Herritage deliberate? Ratbag claims not to have seen a single German near the place. Also, he’s wondering whether the club’s victims extend to rhinos, or is it just a poorly redered pig?

Burn Falcon Burn

Another car on fire with the bonus of map of Australia aerial. Near Scarborough, although it seems to have flamed its way from South Australia. Thanks for those who came to comedy. Was fun to get back into it.

Tardis North Fremantle

Four shots from The Cookster, which could each justify a post on their own, but how could I break up a set like this? Combining worst and nostalgia. I like that kind of worst. Nth Fremantle Bowling Club.

Laundro Rage

The C word is just out of control. People think they can throw it around like foreign 20c pieces. I don’t agree with it’s indiscriminate use. I don’t think it should be used ever. I’m sure Paul Murray wouldn’t either. Thanks to Brownbook for the images. Sorry it took so long Brownie, but you should see the backlog.

Copperart Court

Since politics reigns this week, I thought I’d share this. A copper biography (hagiography?) of Sir Charles Court. Perhaps executed by a child, but in any case of the Naif school. Although the somewhat draconian but fairly dignified Sir Charles has passed on, there are still several rather more annoying Courts still extant, including the whiny Dickie, also a former Premier and erector of The Belltower. There’s also a crackpot christian, always wanting to evangelise our arses Margaret Court, former tennis player married to another of the brood, I can’t remember which, Ken or Barry, but both are rather undistinguished if not slightly repellant members of the community.

A little harsh?

Howard Sattler (rightly) received a lot of criticism when he remarked “Good riddance to bad rubbish” when juvenile car thieves were killed in a high speed crash. But is it going just a step too far to say “Good riddance” to Howard when his mother dies? A little worse than calling Adrian Barich a cunt I think.

Or do we blame the moderators? The link, for as long as it remains.

I might have sugar coated it.
