Yes architecture is fascinating ‘n all, but your site ‘motto’ says it features the worst “Humanity” – yet I haven’t seen you post any of the youtube video’s floating around of the Aust.Day “Mullalloo Riot” or “Cott Girls Gone Wild”… ?

The reasons are Paul, 1, that I usually prefer original material unless it’s exceptional, and 2, Cott girls gone wild was crap, and only The West could possibly have called it news. Drunk women who don’t even get their clothes off dancing at the pub? No. I don’t think so

(Mid) land that time forgot

Thanks to everyone who listened to the radio interview yesterday and visited the site. It was TWOP’s biggest ever day, with nearly 5000 hits. The ABC says audio will be available soon. If it was your first time, welcome. There is a new worst every day.

I wouldn’t have been surprised to find Kurtz at Midland Station, since I must have said “The Horror” numerous times. Instead I saw four goths getting out of a Hyundai and a man screaming “Listen c*nt!…” over and over again into his mobile. The area around the station is one of the ugliest and depressing places in the city. Commando war hero Jack Sue’s dive shop is also here. He should reform a Z Special Unit of Town planners to raid the area one night, cut a few throats and demolish the station and Centrepoint.

Vile Pile

One of the great things about producing The Worst of Perth is the number of people who tell me that they now look at the city in a different way. Instead of letting things blur past, they now apply a more critical eye. Typical of this is a correspondent who recently told me, “I’ve been driving past The Hyatt for years, and have never really noticed what a hideous pile of shit that building is until now.”

That’s the spirit! How could the building not be terrible with its extensive use of glass bricks to give it that lovely toilety look? All of which is sad for the subjects of the new “Vasto” monument who are forever condemned to stare at the thing. Un orinale grande! Santa Madonna!

I will be appearing tomorrow, (Friday 1st February) on ABC Radio 720 with Geoff Hutchison on The Morning Program, about 10:30 am, to discuss the ever growing popularity of The Worst of Perth. I know that most people who like endlessly whining about stuff prefer Howard Sattler, but have a listen if you can.

I have also added an interesting widget on the side bar. The Online Now button shows how many people are currently looking at the site. If you click on it, and then on maps, it will show you where viewers are in the world. Whoever you are who spent an hour viewing the whole catalogue from Bali last night, Perth misses you too mate.

Tit One

It is well known that red inks fade fastest in the sun. Remembering that would have saved some embarrassment when printing these stickers. In real life it was just possible to just see the red lines that made this read Fitzone rather than Tit one, but I didn’t have time for careful exposure. Actually Tit One sounds like a worthy establishment too. The sort of place you’d have a special gold keyring for. Or perhaps it’s an admonishment. “She wouldn’t show me tit one.”

Dunceborough

From my recent travels to the wild south.

I know this sort of statement is supposed to be so subjective that it doesn’t have to stand scrutiny, but Brendon, at least try and make it sound believable! Are you really telling us that after touring the planet as a cricketer and a travel show reporter that the attractions of Dunsborough are unmatched? The same Dunsborough that used to be a quaint backwater but is now the ugliest town in the southwest? Also, if you’re going to put it on a billboard, learn how to spell nowhere. TWOP has been to a lot of places around the world as well, but no where have we seen such tosh.

To really do some good, this giant Brendon Julian should take that golf club and demolish the whole town centre. Schoolies shouldn’t be discouraged from coming to Dunsborough, they should all be given a bulldozer. Any charm the town once had has been wrecked by development, so a schoolie rampage could only make improvements. Bunbury is a much more attractive town these days, and that’s a sad, sad thing to say.

OK. The first part of Nettie’s visit to Mundaring’s sculpture park was a stalemate, with reactions divided over whether Stuart Elliot’s Evil Tourists were bad or good. Surely not much to wonder about with this bench though. Makes my eyes water just posting it. Would you sit on this? Don’t answer that Hokusan. Nettie says…

From front on it’s supposed to be some man holding out his humongous hand that you sit on. From side on it looks kind of like a …well, you know. You don’t even need a gutter mind like myself to figure that one out!

Heath Ledger? He aint worst.

TWOP has enough traffic to appear near the top of many search pages that mention Perth even slightly, explaining how Heath appears several times in the stats page. Very sad. Not where he should have ended up.
