If you can’t say something positive…

I feel I want to be able to say something nice about a Perth public art work. “These could have been worse.” There. Wasn’t so hard. Unlike the deserted Pert Arena precinct. Which means not a soul will see them.

Manky Alex Building

Surprising how manky the expensive Alex Hotel building is already looking! This boring piece, somehow beloved by Perth architects, started off crappy and will resemble a mouldy piece of bread in a year or so. Is that a piss or rust stain? Can someone tell me what’s supposed to be good about it. I assume the interior is good?

Wolf Lane

What am I looking at here?  Is this a something? Leaves stuck to the wall of Wolf Lane. I’m guessing with…semen? Goozie? And are the Jurien (anti Semite) Bay pair responsible?

Outrage Sunday 267 The Painted Cow

This seen by Mr Ernie on the Midland side of Guildford Grammar. “For the Midland parents who wear thongs with their jeans,” he said. 2016-10-22-11-10-39
TLA was enraged: “This is what we’ve come to?” That’s why he’s the blogger and I’m the reporter – I investigate. I can reveal Tim Winton’s new (unpulped) novel will be The Painted Cow. A western suburbs stray wanders around the small towns of the south-west in a futile search for his book club. While in the company of a Vibrancy Department-funded artist, he observes how the woman takes a cow and paints it several colors. Then she releases the cow back into its paddock, but when the painted cow comes upon the herd, they see it as an intruder and viciously attacks the cow until it runs across the road and is hit by a LandCruiser being driven by the artist’s landlord. img_6604
I just loved this to bits: Guildford Hotel, 6PR personality, Karl Langdon, presented Gary Adshead, audible surprise, hunger. The hunger of a man who hasn’t had a Nannup parmy for years.img_4865img_4866

Cadre Compliant

I loved this brutal Chinese restaurant in Mt Barker.

More Biddin’ on Bondy

Reign of Error grabbed another Bondy bargain at auction. This time it’s Ben Lexcen’s take on him. Lexcen also has a classic year 10 high school style. Probably slightly more skilled than Bondy’s own effort. But he as never going to be an “oil painting” was he.

The classics

Although they could have gone Hitler mo, I still say Kudos. Simple and not overdone. Curtin bus station. A simple blackened tooth surpasses every one of the ultra shitty FORM wall pieces at Curtin. By a large margin.

Oh Bayswater!

I’m liking the cheeky post vibrancy seen in Baysie.  Classic.

Biddin’ on Bondy 1

Reign of Error had the chance to bid on an Alan Bond original this week. Those jailhouse art teachers were perhaps better at teaching how to render a key in soap.
