Herbal Demolition

A piece of home made signery well known to anyone who has travelled down Newcastle Street Northbridge during the last decade or so is about to be lost to the world, as demolishers and revampers have moved in. The colour, the lettering, it’s got it all. I’ll miss it, but at least it will be remembered here. The “I’s” are classic home made.

Flag Burning

 There are too many things wrong with this one. Patriotism, the last refuge of the flag maker. The Western Australian flag even makes the awful Australian flag look OK by comparison. Rather than patriotism, flag makers should be encouraging flag burning to generate sales.

Why are plonkers in Perth walking around with Che accessories? What’s with teh Che? My No Che T shirt is quite a head turner. I can get one to you if you want one.

Placebo Domingo

Since naturopathy seems to be religion rather than medicine, and apparently relies entirely on gullibility and placebo action to work, it is hard to see how it is going to help your dog or cat. Guys, pets don’t get placebos. You might as well wave a crucifix over them. (They don’t get religion either.) I believe when this vet puts animals down, he chokes them with a bunch of lavender. They’ll be offering pet meditation and aromatherapy next.

Bad House, Bad Brothel

Guest: Kahuna. Area: Town of Cambridge. In further correspondence, Kahuna goes on to condemn virtually the whole Town of Cambridge and the council. But I want to know, why you would change “The Boulevard” to “Veryward Terrace”? Kahuna says…

Here’s a nic pic of a stunning beauty in Veryward Terrace (formerly The Boulevard) Wembley. Notice the magnificent architectual detail to enhance the streetscape and the use of building materials in a design which responds to Perth’s weather conditions to keep the house pleasantly cool in summer and wonderfully warm in winter. To top it off extensive landscaping has been done to contribute to the sense of place. It’s amazing what you can build on a 255 sqm block. Even more amazing is that the Town of Cambridge approved this shocker and that it was built in only the past 12 months. So much for good building design and environmental awareness. This will hopefully be the first of a number of contributions around the Town of Cambridge where there are many worthy worst of Perth nominations.

At the risk of search engines pouring thousands more brothel searches TWOP’s way, (you should see the stats page), here is another building that comes under the Town of Cambridge’s control. Another ugly brothel, although they do have a reasonable, er, stab at a swan logo, which, as we have discussed before can be problematic for many Perth designers.

City of Opportunity

Maybe it’s not the signs but the message I find hard to swallow, especially since this is outside Belmont Forum. They also seem to be wading knee deep through manure, slowly sinking like some Belmontian La Brea tar pit. A little blurry, from a vehicle window as I didn’t want to stop in Belmont.
