The boys know what you’re giving
You give the boys such a lot of fun
And by the way you make a living
You’ve got the boys all on the run
S.T.’s showing gotta get them going
You can even say the price
They’ll wanna try it
even wanna buy it
If you really treat them nice
But I’d rather take you show that I can make you
Good enough for just one man
oh I’m feeling kinda
Like I’ve gotta find a way to make you understand. Status Quo. Mystery Song.
I make no meaning for this juxtaposition. Let’s just say that the meaning lies in a surfeit of good material. (A problem not encountered by say Inside Cover). However, if someone wants to come up with some adult songs which include the following elements,
Patsy Biscoe – Krazy Kym from Charlottes Web (shown actual size) – Onga Pumps, then bring it on. (Photos via Krazy Kym’s trophy husband, David Cohen, DFOC).

I think I have that Patsy Biscoe LP somewhere. Hard to say without seeing the front. Patsy is Not Worst.
I’m still perplexed by the Onga Pump Shop selling records.

oh, I see now why we get the endless Charlotte’s Web references.
bit of a slowie, me.

Patsy was born in India, grew up in Sydney, then moved to Tassie. Not sure what the TWOP relevance is? But like Grrr I vote not worst.

Speaking of Patsy, I’ve just downloaded her 1966 Folk Album which is excellent and proves that she indeed has the voice.
You can download it from here:
(Frank, I’m not sure whether that is a legal download site, so have removed it just in case).

No, Patsy’s is clearly a pageboy while Krazy Kym has the Louise Brooks.

Should I know what Status Quo meant by
“S.T.’s showing gotta get them going”?

TLA I suspect that is the Mystery of the song. In undertaking a quick search of the official SQ website there is a thread dedicated to this song yet not one mention of the mysterious S.Ts.
Perhaps the fans don’t want to admit they haven’t cracked the riddle yet either.

I think most of Patsy’s childrens songs could have a double meaning, especially these off her album 50 Favourite Nursery Rhymes (Vol 1)
– Ride A Cock Horse
– Wee Willie Winkie
– Humpty Dumpty
– Piggy Wig And Piggy Wee
– Golden Slumbers
………and much much more

I think for the TWOP party at the Queens we’ll persuade Krazy Kym to re-form Charlotte’s Web and they’ll play all their songs, but also R-rated versions of Patsy.
By the end of the night we’ll barely be able to see the stage for the herring smoke.

Didn’t Pate Biscuit already do R-rated versions of Patsy? I seem to recall a description of Bruce Ruxton tongue-kissing a Pekingese.

Surely you would know Teh Quo’s intended meaning for S.T’s? Surely the S is not for saggy?

Given the context, TLA, and that it features in dictionaries of British slang, I’m prepared to go with an acronym of this one.
I would have posted the question on their official site, (as shazza observed there are no clues in the Mystery Song thread there), but one of the required fields for registration is Favourite Quo Album.

Snuff I did come across your question on 1 site while doing my own checks. I was tempted to regsiter and post a faux answer, such as ‘Skinks Testicles’, and if not for the demands of children would have.
Oh well I laughed at the thought.
Clearly I am yet to tire of having Skinks testicles rammed down my throat.
Do you take sugar with that vicar?

12 Gold Bars is magnificent. Those hypnotising riffs, the moronic lyrics. One of my favourites. No Teh Quo on guitar hero unfortunately.
But your interpretation of ST’s has soured my enjoyment.

Humblest apologies, TLA. It’s still my best guess, unfortunately.
For my penance, I attempted to register and post the question on Quo’s official site’s noticeboard, hoping to be proven wrong, but it won’t accept registrations from gmail, hotmail or yahoo webmail addresses. Fortress Quo is tighter than, as Rob would say, a nun’s nasty.

Tony Marles, from the Australian Status Quo Page, has come through for us, TLA.
Tony writes, “Here we go , the mystery is solved :
Rick was asked this question by someone on the mailing list: it means ‘Stocking Tops,’ apparently. The song itself is actually about a prostitute, as confirmed by Francis at Reading in December 1997 (and possibly on other occasions when I wasn’t there)!. The full lyrics were included on the inner bag of the original ‘Blue For You’ album, but are not included on the later re-releases.
Cheers
Tony”

Jolly good work old chap. Stocking Tops hey, how raunchy.
It was pretty obvious the song was about a punter falling in love with a hooker. This theme seems to get a work -out every decade.

Fantastic work. Prostitute!!!??? Really? They are far too subtle them lyrics.

Don’t worry, TLA, I’m on the case. I’m fairly confident at this stage that it’s closer to Statuesque Tits than Skink’s Testicles.
