长城 The Great Wall at Maylands

Worst Garden Wall

Let me correct a common urban myth. This wall on the corner of Rowlands and Railway Parade Maylands is not the only Worst of Perth listing visible from space. If only that were the case at ground level.

great wall

A few kilometres of this between Beijing and Xi an would surely have seen off the Mongolians. I mean, sure they may have been barbarians, but they would never have stooped to this.

I believe the bumpy bits are rendered over cockroaches, and yes, sigh, those are indeed Cocos pods lying in front.

I grew up a few streets away from here. The lumpy things you can see are actually seahells and in it’s original manifestation the wall was painted black, decoratively studded with the white shells – pretty. The (presumably) new owners added their fantasy-in-beige about 10 years ago, only upping it’s worstiness.
