Small bars reach end of days

If there needed to be any sign that the small bars craze had reached rapture point, then see this. Could someone really call it The Boheme? (aka “Teh ‘Heme”) You’d think it would be hard to go worse than the name Bobby Dazzlers. The whole Wentworth Plaza redevelopment is looking pretty sick. The barest sliver of facade is finding it difficult to conceal a a monster of concrete behind. The Boheme. Kill me now. Oh god, there’s even a fucking accent on the e. By Bento.

why do we get ‘Le Boatshed’ but ‘The Boheme’ ?

no doubt it will become known as La Bogane

that’s if the Raine Square development ever gets finished.

    who’s the developer? oh yes…

I for one am saddened that Bobby Dazzler’s has closed.
It was delightfully kitsch and reliable the few times I walked in.
Same with Horsefeathers and…. whatever that place was tucked around the back of Raine Square (The Garage?).

At least Sasella’s is safe, right? And Hickey’s?

Perth is losing all of it’s “classics”.

(In case anyone hasn’t mentioned it, the Great Wall of Maylands, https://theworstofperth.com/2007/10/05/%E9%95%BF%E5%9F%8E-the-great-wall-at-maylands/ was demolished two days ago.)

fabulous piece by Shallow Spice on the frustrations of opening a small bar:

    http://www.watoday.com.au/entertainment/restaurants-and-bars/new-perth-bars-fail-the-public-interest-test-20101019-16s5j.html

two uses of ‘vibrancy’, two uses of ‘classy’, another misspelled faux-French venue called ‘LouVe’ (the first instance of bogan spelling in a bar?) and an egregious misspelling of ‘definitely’ IN CAPITALS

Noticed this last week and thought it well worst worthy. I’ll miss Bobby Dazzler’s, to an extent – probably all the more once The Boheme is in place. one40william casts long shadows, that’s for sure.

Just another CBD venue that will be charging over $10 for a pint!
It’d time the people of Perth voted with their feet, and let these overpriced venues stay empty for a few weeks.
That might just bring the price of a pint down to a resonale level…say $6.

Visitors from the UK who pay 2-3 quid overthere end up paying over 6 quid here for a pint…outrageous!!!
