At The Dog Rock Cafe

I meant to post this the other day, but it got lost. There should be plenty of things to worst about in Albany, but the fact that shops including bottleshops were open on Good Friday, while in Perth they were shut tighter than a nun’s camel’s took some of the wind out of the sails. There was a nice dead rat outside Wombat Lodge, and a painting of a woman with a compressed head that actually looks a lot better in the photo than it did in real life. Those might have to do. Oh and there was a Sigma parked next to a street rod in Busso, which probably meant that the head journo had been sent to cover street rod fest. A rusted Sigma. It might as well be a journo’s uniform.

TLA: I deplore yo attempt at the systematic derangement of my senses. And I’ve sent a link to this post to every Albs fucker that I know. Any of these pics would have sufficed as a single TWOP laff-fest. Now yo are asking us to make an almost impossible decision.

I am quite enamored with the yellow sigma – there is a certain little something about it that really floats my boat

Indeed, TLA, entirely unremarkable re. worsts, though it would be entirely possible to fill a book with Albany’s bests: Its proximity to the lovely Denmark being just one of them.

The inevitable appearance of the oxymoron in daily life does not raise the eyebrow greatly either.
e.g. the solid and bright yellow; symbols of the determinedly adventurous, though perpetually broke individual, so grossly under estimated by society; hence the ancient and rust infected Sigma.
Vs. the powderpuff blue of the agro-wagon; built by a bored-with-life cult follower with too much time and money on his/her hands, who gets mobs of attention via glossy magazines and noisy expositions.
A double juxtaposition occurring in the femininity of the pussycat blue contrasting with the testosterone of the macho hotrod.

    A-a-a-h-h! Life: so contradictory.

Excellent depiction of the bulging Albanoid forehead, full of knowledge, with the Albanoid motto ” two out of three aint so bad”.

I agree that there SHOULD (excuse the random capitallisation; I haven’t been to italics school) be plenty of things to worst about in Albany, but apart from some ‘rural chic’ scattered here and there I didn’t spot much worst-worthy either.

Bridgetown is great and Manjimup is a hole.

Albany is most famous for it’s many years of slaughtered whales, but little mention of the many years of aboriginal mistreatment, the original settlers being mainly soldiers and whalers. I went there on tour once with an aboriginal actor who couldn’t wait to get away …to many bad spirits. You can take that in any way you want.
