Slow it down

I like how Napoleon Street is taking vibrancy down, way down with this popup path closure. I also heard that the famous street is getting a “parklet” which would be a mistake. Will it be here, or is this just going to be some alfresco optometry?

The wonderful and magical closure of a Dome is a thing of beauty indeed. Perhaps a PoVi balanced reaction to the path closure?

    Boring explanation alert.

The owner of the lane way closes it once a year to prevent anyone else claiming ownership through adverse possession. Same thing happens with Central Park in the CBD I believe.

But I’m looking forward to the optometrist parklet. Subi tried one with a real estate agent, and it was a roaring success.

Not just the Central Park one but the one in SGT with that strange oversized bronZe sculptural procession of businessmen of all epochs — including that of ‘ cell ‘ phones — marching into the main entrance . As if we have forever done this …

    • Curtin has to close its road once a year too. It’s pleasing to think that if I had urinated or vomited in that lane every day for a year, I could have it.

It’s pleasing to think we still have these arcane laws. You couldn’t claim it for yourself, of course, but in the name of HRH. She would be mighty chuffed. Once the vomit and urine was dealt with.

These laws serve a economic purpose : to wit : if you haven’t done anything with the land in twelve years , the person who has deserves title to it. TWOP slackers can appreciate this principle : it is the way squatters in London acquired land titles.

Come to think of it QV1 closes its Levantine oasis yearly on sky works day when no one is thought to notice .

You still can. If you can demonstrate some decades of unbroken use you can apply to the u.n for traditional pissing rights, but only if you rely exclusively on said lane for pissing and would be harmed if you had to go somewhere else
