Rick M notes the continued slow mouldering of Perth Slot Machines on the Barrio, Fitzgerald Street North Perth. God knows what’s in there. There haven’t been slo machines in there for at least 30 years. I like that it’s there. I would love to think that there are dust covered slot machines inside.

My Dad used to own a round of video games back in the 80’s and early 90’s. Perth Slo machines had an electronics genius running the place. Could fix anything. I spent many happy hours barely dodging electrocution in that place.
Ahhh… Galaga 20 cents for an hour’s worth of play, if you were any good…. Still know huge chunks of Perth really well from ‘doing the round on a saturday night, going round to all the pizza bars and delis, counting up the money and divvying it up with the owners. Some real characters out there. They all loved me ‘cos I was a dark eyed, dark haired, big boobed teenager, designed by god to appeal to the Italian pizza bar owners. This manifested as a suspicious number of free pizzas, but Dad kept a really close eye on me :) No going into the meat fridge ;)
