Small Barism Margaret River

Unexpectedly Margaret River has a small bar that was actually nice. Certainly a step up from wine wankerism and surfturdism down the street. Boho. I recommend the Mojitos.

I was in a taxi today and noticed that this was reviewed by the flavour-phobic fatman in the Worst… he gave it 11.5 out of 20.

The twisted, almost randomly hung lighting cables, suggesting a ceiling of living tree roots, threatening the strangulation of anyone mentioning the name of a non-boutique beer; the cool yet meaningless prints, the worst of which celebrates the letter “d” for no apparent reason (disgust? drunkeness? death?) against a similarly strangulatory skein – suggestive of vines and twigs and all things spiky and spiny and twisty yet cute in the way that all the best graphic design does is days: a giant ball of yarn unravelled by a girl in plaits through city streets; birds, rabbits, and deer – cavorting in a neverwhere of silhouette; the comforting urban-pooh of Enid Blyton fantasies as seen through a glass darkly; as through the bottom of a $70 bottle of Margaret River grenache.
