I loved this City Beach house with the forlorn amateur fish graphic. Beachfront house, waiting to be knocked down so that wankers can rebuild there.

And staying with beachside living, Teh Cookster continues his photo essay on the highlights of Scarborough.
A very suitable house for the suburb, quaint unassuming in sympathy with its surrounds.
So yes very likely to be backhoed and a mcmansion built to be semi-lived in by wankers in Shitty Beach.

Really? A beachfront house with about 80% blank wall as frontage, and an unusable balcony, is something to wax nostalgic about? I agree the majority of McMansions are awful, but let’s not suggest the existing house (fish notwithstanding) isn’t pretty awful too.
I look forward to Turnips’s description of the make, model, year, colour, chassis number, and safety rating of the vehicle that provided Scarborough’s delightful street furniture.

It’s the fish. The house is crap and no doubt full of ‘spestos.

Well, upon close examination—as much as the limited screen real estate of a popular proprietary smartphone permits—this is a bench seat with the armrest integrated with the driver’s backrest with a flipdown one on the passenger’s side, so I am going to guess that it’s from a Japanese pickup, e.g. Hilux, Rodeo, Triton. Which one of those (or any other similar vehicle), I truly don’t know.
I’m as probably as warm as anyone will get to that…passenger cars I’m pretty good at identifying. Commercials, well, a bit mystifying, despite their limited variations, as I’ve never really driven many varieties of them but for a handful of them.

It’s not out of the burnt thing Cookster shot last week?

I don’t think anything survived the burnt wreck – a real scorched earth job there.

Not worst. But yes, its replacement likely will be.

Make that a double.
The house most likely went up in the early-to-mid 60s, when skillion roof houses were at the dizzying heights of Modernist/Internationalist domestic construction. Would have doubtlessly been something to behold back in th days when Council House (She-Ra Castle), Red Castle Hotel and the nearby Perry Lakes Stadium were similarly new, but like the second example, it too has seen better days, a faded glory surely to meet a similar fate as the latter contemporaneous structure. As TLA rightly indicated, asbestos was the wonder product of that era and that house is likely to be another Boans Morley, a prolonged demolition job, dust masks and sealed bags all ’round.
But even in its jaded state, that house has far more character in it’s mesothelioma-in-wait Hardieplex sheeting than any Tuscanstrosity erected by some style-deaf Nouveau Riche wanker. And with similar lack of energy conserving design…at least they had an excuse in those days, when that discipline was the sole domain of a few eccentric-yet-enlightened individuals.

bot, well spoken.
not worst at all, and i would be quite happy to live in it.

And do you notice that the skillion roof is still the only idea architects have for residential stuff today. Builder designed has no eaves, architect designed has flat roof.

flat?
surely you mean monopitch?

Strange because this is an asymetrical gable roof rather than a skillion roof and certainly not ‘flat’ or ‘monopitch’. In truth most Architects design rooves with profiles and pitches many and varied whereas your bog standard mcbuilder roof is going to be a pretty consistant 22 degree hipped or gabled farce. Architects design rooves (and ceilings) to fit the situation whereas mcbuilders design them to fit the economics and the brick course!
This example whilst likely to be asbestos ridden as previously suggested could be cleaned up and would still be an attractive house. When it is torn down and replaced there will be a pile of turd built to replace it that can’t be distinguished from its’ neighbours except by the number out the front.

‘asymetric gable’ – cool
I’ve got the same roofline, ceiling line. Very simple and cheap to build and permits easy renovation for flow through ventilation.

I can see you with a badly painted fish on yur place too.

If it was a McRubbish Pile it wouldn’t have the badly painted fish either – it would be some piece of twisted metal and butt-ugly tiles shaped like a fish then given an ‘antique’ paint finish :)

Pity Cookster didn’t get there earlier. We could have had a time lapse slide show of the car being stripped.
