I’m not sure if they are their biggest assets, but they are certainly their biggest staplers. What braniac thought that having a woman under a giant stapler would demonstrate staff value? Oh finance. There’s your problem. If it had been an engineering ad at least she would have had big norks as well as large stapler.

as a representative of the engineering profession I resent your imputation that all we are interested in is “big norks”
I am more of a leg man, myself.

Sign on my door:
“Knock firmly and roundly.
I like firm round knockers.”
Perhaps that’s why I bombed out of engineering.
It says something about the office culture that the staff are walking around on grass wearing stilletto heels.
More style than substance?

That is a very big stapler. How big is the photocopy machine?

I guess in finance you’re dealing with balance sheets, reports, pages of figures…
…a pretty bland staple diet?

The way she’s carrying that heavy stapler shows a flagrant disregard for occupational health and safety

Personally I am disgusted that the Department of Finance is wasting taxpayers money on giant staplers. They really should be focussing on budget policy and developing tiny weeny office supplies. Someone should be looking into their procurement policies.

It’s a campaign to cut down on theft of office supplies…
You’d have to come in on the weekend and use a trolley to get that sucker home.

Doesn’t the picture imply that, in fact, staplers are their biggest asset, given that the stapler is bigger than the person?

Perhaps it’s the people that are small, not the staplers that are big.

Potayto, potahto. Either way, the person is clearly not the biggest asset.

To accurately convey the intended meaning, the picture should be of a gigantic person, with a teensy weensy little stapler, just as Mez suggested.

So much for the paperless office concept. Those sheets of paper being used for that stapler must be huge!

The woman on the left also appears to be demonstrating a new pair of office headgoggles as well!! Perhaps these are for those late nights at the computer, thrashing over the accounts and the exorbident prices of those damned massive staplers!

I just googled “our people are our biggest asset” and it seems that 2.3 million organisations find their people much bigger than Australian Government.
These guys have the right idea – although I’m not sure how you are expected to sell a car if you can’t fit into one.

I work for a large financial organisation. Yes, the management are clearly insane. There are no giant staplers in our office however.
Note however that when a company in the finance sector says “our people are our biggest asset”, they really mean “we are blowing hot air up your ass until we manage to outsource”. Sometimes the industry specific language throws people.

I’ve always said an asset was a small ass.

Also a bad sign is the absence of a bowl of Fantales – how will they attract graduates to their booth/department without a bowl of cheap candy? “Employers of Choice” need to show they understand rewards and incentives.
