Well, this seems a good time and place to say that I’ll fucking miss this site to bits. I found it soon after coming back after a decade in Sydney, which was really hard to do, and it was really valuable to have a reference point of reasons why coming back was possibly not so terribly bad. Because it’s always been about the potential of Perth and the underlying reasons to begrudgingly love it, not just about its utter craptacularity.
And as I’ve got older and busier and better connected, Perth has got incrementally less awful, and we’ve met somewhere in the middle. I guess it’s settling. But still.
I’ve had lots of genuine pleasure and joy from TWOPers. I’ve loved having submissions published and enjoyed by others. I’m sorry not to have met some of you because I reckon we’d get on, and I’m sure you know who you are. I think I saw TLA at Curtin once but didn’t say hi. Don’t know why.

Am with JaneZ except for the ‘ incrementally less awful ‘ bit .
Eternally sandbagged local machers of low profile and high ( eg Murrays , Broadfields , Kinsellas , Parkers and even She Ras ) are gradually replacing the aspirational tang of yesteryear s Perth with a financialised and overpoliced generic dutch-american urban theme park they can escape for lush unruined places whenever they choose .
This may not make TWOP obsolescent , but should have raised and broadened its target in the future it will not have .
