Maylands time

Going to spend some time in Maylands this week. The 7th Avenue bridge is coming down. Last chance to drive. Went down and took some tribute shots. Nice traditional Swan Draught in there too.

Amazing what people did with Jarrah. That substructure looks so fragile.
There are still streets in UK cities which are made with blocks of “Canning River Mahogany”.
Tarred over mainly, but revealed during repairs to service infrastructure.
    No termites to eat them.

She’s a lovely girl. I use her every day. That tabletop jump has improved my motorbike skills. It will be sad to see it replaced with this concrete beast, yep there is even the token space for ‘public art’ off in the garden area, how lovely.

The following artists; Jahne Rees, Voytek Kozlowski and Anne Neil have been shortlisted from 19 EOI entries to proceed to the project’s Artwork Proposal stage. Lets hope it will slightly best the champagne hollywood concrete fonts on Beaufort St?

I used to ride along the bike path there. For a time, someone would poo on the path under the 3rd Av bridge most every day. I don’t know if this is still happening, but I trust the powers-that-be have incorporated such needs into their plans for the replacement?

In the face of all the saddening, if not maddening, resignation re the fate of this mighty bridge, allow me to humbly direct those interested to a previous post.
