Ages ago BSWaM was asking about bus stops in Pert, I’ve been meaning to get a shot of one of the more desolate sticks on the side of the road but this one is a fair representation of the style.

These are relics of a bygone era – exemplary of the fossilised mind set of our elected governments, those who vote for them and the cobweb headed bureaucrats who administer the thoughts of the mentally paralysed pollies.
For god’s sake, Johnston was blabbing on about permitting the major shopping centres to charge for parking in order to encourage more people to use public transport.
Question: What forking public transport?
Outside of commuting hours, weekends and public holidays there is precious little.
Now add weekend trading and extended shopping hours!
Do these morons actually remember what they were spouting only yesterday?
First build the infrastructure and services and then persuade folk to use them.
If that might mean borrowing money and not producing budget surpluses, then so be it.
The social gains will soon out balance the cost – but then social benefits are not included in the GDP, so I s’pose they really don’t count.
It’s the economy.

I don’t know how they decide to provide a shelter or not. Flip a coin, perhaps, or conduct an impromptu door-to-door poll.

If I took the pic in early morning light, the paint colour may well be the same. Tilt of font is similar but actual typeface doesn’t match. Good observation though.
There is a third in this series on a billboard that has featured previously (WW 143) but the author wasn’t happy with it as it has been struck through so as to be illegible.
