What’s this?? Talk of walkouts until I return? Calls for posts to be pulled? Bitchfights? Cork soaking? Claims of exploitation? Do I have to come back there? To take it down, way down and to move away from any type of exploitation, look what Hanoi orphans have been “given the opportunity to do”.

    Is this at the “pottery village” that all the groups from HaLong bay are taken via on the way back to the tourist North-South highway? In the case of the many backpackers that populated our boat, polite bemusement at what we were meant to do with fragile “art” works which were larger than everything we owned combined… Mr RR posed with some excruciatingly glazed vases “which would be great in the back of the ute back home”. That extra bit of WTF are we doing here context tips it into realms of surreal worst. I’d forgotten about the orphans…

    the figure of a woman struggling out of a potato sack is also a popular theme for sculptors in Bali. I meant to take a photo, but somehow never got round to it. Apathy, probably.

    The dolphin in the first one doesn’t look too happy about how the woman is handling him. Or perhaps he’s just disappointed he’s the only one without any naughty bits. Is it me or is the last one looking a bit lopsided? Number three must be the Korean model.
