Art controversy divides effetes and wankers.

My own art divided coffee sippers in Cottesloe this week. My rubber stamp picture had  coffee drinkers up in arms about how it disrespected shark attack victims. This is while they ordered cake and lattes at the same site. Featured in The Post AND page 3 of the Australian. Loved and hated and at the same time. A lesson for public artists perhaps?

Sculptures by the Sea should be relocated to the Canning Vale waste transfer station. The exhibits are absolute vile junk and are offensively branded ‘sculptures’. The frenzy of wank generated by this picture is pretty typical of Perthians. I for one love the piece – the dogs on the beach no doubt stir Cottesloe residents as they conjure thoughts of a hot Chum / Pal mess between the toes – what if the dogs were also smoking ?? Perhaps the diver could have been substituted with Yagans head.

“What if the dogs were also smoking?” Exactly the sort of detail McDonald misses.

My mate Wally next door does this rusty steel arty farty stuff. He tried to enter this exhibition or display one year and they told him to bugger off… Can’t have a bloke named Wal from the burbs doing art. No na no. To cut a long story short, I selected a really fancy European hyphenated name and wrote them saying I was interested in a certain ‘piece’…. The were all over me like seagulls on a chip…

How about a performance piece on the Indiana loos next year and really give them something to talk about?

This is merely another ‘Art Fart’ from the ‘Artie Fartie’ mob who seem to “know the price of everything, but the value of nothing.”
As for “respect for the dead”, Cottesloe dead-heads have been re-electing dead-between-the-ears representatives into political office for ages.

Good on you TLA for not being as lazy as me: I really ought to have got my shit together, so I could’ve (at least attempted, lest it get past the Cottesloe Politburo of Art Censorshit) banged up a sculpture for Sculpture By The Sea, creating a shark tangled in a drum line, but the shark’s face morphed into a caricature of Barnett Rubble, with his piggy eyes and gappy teeth, bleeding from the mouth. Just in time for the State Election too. But alas, too fucken lazy I was.

Then again, like I said, it wouldn’t have likely passed the first hurdle as it would have surely offended the strangely delicate sensitivities of those trickle-down hard-hearts that call Cotts home. And again, kudos for your piece, a great “Get Fucked” if there ever was!

Fact check : Great white sharks are an vulnurable species.(ICUN 3.1) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulnerable_species
Well good riddance you might say, but they provide valuable ecological services as they say in the classics.
Ken Crew was killed out front of the North Cott Life Saving Club and the Barchetta, 700 m from the pylon. In October 2011 Bryn Martin was killed near the pylon, most likely by one great white shark and not a school.
    Conclusion : confected outrage.
