The Dream Relentless

Rob C saw the face of Perth – right down to the fully paved garden, and was left a shaken broken man. A Carine stronghold. Cocii, Sky, paving…

A driveway with a median strip! That’s the Australian Dream right there.

I think you’ll find it is an engineered, anti-Commodore safety solution. Still highly aspirational though.

      • It will never stop the hover commodores which are only (literally) just around the corner.

Hover commodores will never come until there is sufficiently dense urban development .

Why be first world when one can be fourth ?

For heavens sake — and in the name of vibrancy — redevelop this underutilised land block of suburban wasteland with an environmentally sustainable twelve storey mixed use infill residential project NOW !

( Dont forget the penthouses — they have the best views . Worth More ! )

I would buy an apartment if the marketing guys would give me a free hover Commodore and pay the stamp duty. Just not in Carine though.

We had family friends who bought in Carine as we were growing up. It was the era when planners (the same ones advocating the 12 storey mixed use stuff today and shepherding them through the DAP) were pushing cul-de-sacs and loops for the burbs. Every time we went there we got lost and had to hunt around in the boot for the UBD. Tell that to kids today …

    One hundred thousand trees, twenty
thousand tons of marble, are the
    ingredients of Xanadu’s mountain.
    Xanadu’s livestock: the fowl of
the air, the fish of the sea, the
beast of the field and jungle –
two of each; the biggest private
zoo since Noah. Contents of Kane’s
    palace: paintings, pictures,
statues, the very stones of many
    another palace, shipped to Carine
from every corner of the earth,
    from other Kane houses, warehouses,
    where they mouldered for years.
Enough for ten museums – the loot
    of the world.

Some 32 years ago I worked for a landscaping contractor who was engaged by the then owner of this place to create a surprise for his wife while she was in hospital giving birth to their first born. We dug up the drive, installed 9 full size coci (3 rows of 3. Others have been planted since) in truck loads of soil, the traffic island and retic etc. All before mother & newborn returned home.He put on a great lunch for the crew when we’d finished.
