In the USA there has been a big stink recently regarding people wanting to use toilets depending on how they IDENTIFY. eg. If a bloke says he thinks he’s a sheila then he can use the female toilets, no questions asked. It even went to a local referendum in Houston [lesbian mayor, NTTAWWT]. Here’s an entertaining thread from a lefty website after the motion got thrown out by a resounding margin. “America is bigoted and going to shit blah blah blah” type thing…. http://www.metafilter.com/154401/this-is-a-basic-civil-right

Gotta love Murdoch. It’s a hole, signs falling down or losing their letters, toilets with flickering lightbulbs, a library with no air con (it seems – though it probably does have air con), Brutalist/concrete architecture built in the 60s everywhere making you feel like your in soviet russia or nazi germany, “transgender” unisex toilets with stickers of “im here to pee not to be gender stereotyped everywhere, “international students” (probably trying to become “migrants”) failing their courses because they don’t know english, heaps of parking – but it’ll cost ya $70 a semester (for the far away spots), nothing within walking distance (even the train station and hospital are a trek), little public transport during certain hours, a constant smell of pot in some areas and lastly the “foundation units” which are just agenda pushing (I wonder who pays for it).
Thank god I’m in the “Law building” which obviously gets a largely disproportionate amount of money, probably due to fact that most uni committees outside of the Law School don’t know what they are doing. Also tips to Steve Shaw, he’s a harsh marker but thank god there’s at least on non PC lecturer (I think he’s a good lecturer too, he knows his stuff well unlike the other lecturers who seem to have little experience).
