Where Sister Elsie married the gardener. I believe the early years bred some champ swimmers, they chucked the girls in the creek-fed pool with jilgies and leeches. Some of the boarders were handy with a knife and killed their own sheep for barbecues, the uneaten bits could always be stored in a fridge for Science classes. Ecuador is quite distant, but Catholic, so not impossible that Lorena Bobbitt spent her formative years boarding there.

My high school too, under the stern ‘care’ of Sister Paula.
I recall the boarders enjoyed locking day students in the old morgue, myself included. Good times.

five years hard labour (primary and secondary), under the merciless eye of sister kaye until my parents finally realised i hadn’t been exaggerating about the appalling behaviour of the nuns and the abysmal quality of the teaching and removed me.

the boarders, well now, they were always a special group.

There once was a nun from St Rigid’s,
Who sat on two O.M.I digits,
    She cried ‘Father have mercy
    Next time you point percy,
Us sisters get blisters from rigids.’
