There was indeed a Route 69 service, which has only been cancelled in recent times, which was similar to the 67 and 68 to Mirrabooka via Teh Arrondissement and Grand Prom; the 67 is the most direct and the most frequent, the 68 trundles along deep into Old Dianella (near the A href=”https://theworstofperth.com/2007/09/30/discipline-and-punish/”>Discipline And Punish Ministries Church) and the former 69er, er, route, scaled the older Dianella Heights area near Morley Drive, the service coming very close to the south-east border of Nollamara along Hayes Avenue, a mere 150-or-so metres away. Perhaps this joker had come over all nostalgic for the old days when they would walk home just a little further than if they had instead caught the 354, then possessing bragging rights of “having ridden the 69 home” instead.
I think that beyond offering a rationale to explain the newly-reinstated service that wouldn’t have likely crossed the mind of this juvenile public transport patron, all it does is reveal my trainspotter-like latent knowledge of bus services north of the river and history of MTT/Transperth rolling stock, even though I seldom use it these days.
