The Love Box

So, so, many great shots coming in from people, that I thought I better make an effort myself. I love this letterbox on Morley Drive. Is that Cupid? Eros? Romulus? Surely not Frig-in’ Loki? (That Loki shit is like, whoa dude, fuuuuck! by the way. Well worth subscribing to that site.)
Anyway. Morely drive. Now before you write in, can I stress that I LIKE the letterbox. You may want to take in the text above that explicity states that I love it. The letterbox is cool Daddyo, (if a little over engineered). Remember, I’m liking teh box. If someone’s asking me, “Dude, what’s goood?” I will be answering by referring them to this image. If only everyone’s mail could be blessed by a box such as this. This is a box I could get behind. Your privacy is not being invaded by someone taking a photo of your love box that’s in full view on a public road.            Lovin’ the box, just quietly.

I’m conflicted. Instinctively I agree with orbea, but the longer I stare at it the less worst it seems to become. Which I find a bit disturbing.

Not the worst thing to have graced these pages, but up there. I’m guessing TLA has become unhinged, hence the peculiar defensiveness, via the sheer volume of worst he is forced to countenance on a daily basis thanks to the volume of cuntributions.
Also smacks of contrition viz Missus TLA’s possible disquiet over lack of V-Day celebrations, here or otherwise.

Such grandeur for a mailbox. There’s so many houses along Morley Drive with interesting mailboxes or Italian-Australian style gardens made of concrete, decorated with similar statues of naked people or animals and/or with fountains in the front yard. They all seem to be competing with each other as to who can be the grandest. I love that about Morley Drive. It’s so bad, it’s good.

’tis true, I had a friend who lived in the little Italy patch of Morley Drive, his parents almost bankrupted themselves buying statues & concrete to keep up with the neighbours.

Bill – best redevelopment proposal I’ve seen yet: get rid of useless Esplanade and extend river/jetty facilities to The Esplanade (street). If Mohammed won’t come to the mountain, the mountain must come to Mohammed. Shame to lose the pyramid hothouse though, maybe, ans distinct lack of canals.

        • I have to agree a bit. Apart from the stupid cablecar to KP of course. It does seem to find a space between stupid and nothing, which have been our choices before.

A bit of filigree to the main intention of this : 10 new high rises and a couple of new cucaracha to go with the old cucaracha. Teh commercial development industry love it.

I’m not sure about it. I assume this will require some kind of excavation?

Why would we seek to have less land in our CBD?

I’m also confused – I thought (from observation and experience in other cities as what I have lived in) that the idea of having the CBD commence on the Terrace was a way of preserving a floodplain which could readily absorb flood impact without much damage.

Now, they want to move the city down onto the lower level?

            Hmm…

But what about that Chinese restaurant in the old cricket pavilion? How can you just let that go?!!

Apart from that, looks well vibrant. No way the water will ever be blue, though.

If this proposal had’ve been announced a few weeks ago, maybe my folks could’ve swung their surplus cocos palms their way.

But best that they didn’t, for a good cocos is a dead and removed cocos. Let’s just hope that the artist’s impressions featuring said palms are just a placeholder from their dullard imaginations, or lack of thereof.

Ah yes, Greco-Roman imagery; cherub – check, balusters – check, Roman arch – check. Hmm, medieval castellated blended with mid-twentieth century pill-box. Yes, I can see how you could get behind this; in fact you could use it to take cover. Right, call in the Vandals.
