Weekend Worstoff 36

Have I put this from Grovesy up before? Can’t remember. Seems familiar, but I can’t find it. Anyhow, this I assume is now a totally vanished worst on Morrison Rd Midvale. Somehow Midland and international just don’t sit right together.

And a disturbing Melbourne worst from meccano. A volcano project discarded near malvern Station.

And another from Melbourne via Hokusan. I really want to staple that ear onto the board. Thanks Hokmeister.

Melancholy, abandoned slide and volcanos, TLA. Still, the kids seem happy enough with their snug dorm.

  3. By the way, I went down to Ferris Wheel ground zero, and can’t see anything. Doesn’t seem like gondola one has arrived yet. No siteworks either.

That volcano looks uncannily like the infected spider bite on my leg, which has now cleared up thank fuck. I sent you a photo of it did I not TLA?

The cinema is still in ruins. Working for one of those terrible free local area weeklies – I have done the story to death and still the place stands in all its haunted ghetto fabulous glory…sigh. Although it’s boarded up now so the kids dont run amok in there.
The train station in Midland is a far better example of the worst in perth.

  9. Thanks poxxx. Sounds like you should be doing a story on The Worst of Perth. Midland station has of course already been featured. Put Midland in the search box at the top and you’ll find plenty.

Frank, although there are many worsts in that item, item seven looks definitely not worst.

If TLA had submitted his Nikki photos to that Curtin publication, the headline could have been: No nipples in Ripples.

Can someone tell me what happened to the cinema / food court? It’s not that old, maybe 15, 16 years ago built?
Also, the aquatic centre next door, is that still operational?

The Cinemas/Food Court moved to Midland Gate Shopping Centre.

Also, the aquatic centre next door, is that still operational?

Yep, besides that building, the only other building in that precinct which is still open is Chicken Treat.

Thanks Frank. I take it the whole area must look derelict now. The aquatic centre was at the time, quite nice I recall. I can’t remember what else was there – indoor cricket or something.

Yep, very ghettoesque and full of Vandalism etc, as well as the Indoor Cricket there was also a Ten Pin Bowling alley which went bust.

    Ahhh 10 Pin, yes.

Love the worstofs when they feature places and suburbs. Interesting glimpses of home and how things have changed… not looking too well, some of them. :(
