I really loved these deco sailing boat mirrors. Maylands. This is the second topless woman this week who seems to have trouble removing the apparel.

I’m not familiar with nautical lingo, is this a ships sextant?

Mecano, you might be better going with “rowlocks” or “barnacles on her bottom” I think.

A rather disturbing laughing face (perhaps Chairman Mao?) off to the left which I don’t remember being there.

That brass lamp has clearly been inexpertly buffed. Tsk.

I don’t think she has finished buffing it, she is still holding the cloth.

I think Margaret Court needs to see this, she obviously missed out in the 70’s and it’s never too late.

Oh, I should have made it clear. This is Margaret Court. The handle of a tennis raquet is partly visible behind the ship. I think it was a raquet handle.

Extraordinary how a 30-year-old painting has got the men of Perth so excited they can’t stand up.

Actually, I went and bought this painting immediately after I saw the image, and I’ve been ‘standing’ ever since…

Oh calm down people they’re clearly fake, FAKE – there is no way that mirrored finish could be so perfect after 50 years.

Actually, it’s also extraordinary how the Great Art of the 1970s obviously has a Proustian capacity to evoke a steady childhood diet of Benny Hill, Dick Emery, The Two Ronnies & Kenny Everett et al. Nudge nudge, wink wink, fnarr fnarr, phwoar!! etc, etc…

Del, are you meaning for your name to be linked to a website? it’s not linked properly if so.

Nope. Much like the painting, I’m the product of someone’s fevered imagination circa 1971.

Oh dear. Painting you say, Del Quant?
I actually thought it was a quick snap of the shopkeep serving.
