I haven’t thought about either for a long time. I suppose if I had, I would have assumed that they were both long gone.

In analog times, they were almost the only places you could get anything other than mainstream, (along with Mills, which Pete mentions below, where Marshall perfected the art of customer service). The staff at all three loved their work, and really knew their stuff.
