    A Confederate flag?

    In Perth?

    Really?

Lottsa hoop skirts and Spanish moss-girt live oak allees down your way?

Nobody know nothin’ about birthin’ no babies?

I mean, if you’re determined to scrape the bottom of the can, I probably wouldn’t reach for the one labeled “doomed racist oligarchy from 150 years ago.”

The deadshits who put confederate flags on their cars here would know about as much American history as quantum mechanics, and if they understood what that flag represents, they’d probably put it on anyway, TBSwM.

Rockabillies and country music fans are known to sport the Confederate flag, even here Manhatten. Perhaps it takes on a particular meaning in the WA context given the history of secessionist sentiment in this state.

Maybe NF#1, but our seccessionist sentiment has stemmed more from a desire to own and control our resources, rather than a desire to continue the practice of slavery. I’m not saying we are innocent – the shameful exploitation of aborigonal stockman last century a case in point.

          • Remember Graeme Kennedy telling a joke about Captain Cook being “grabbed by the Kanaks”. Wasn’t it Hawaiians? Must do an irrational hatred about Gra Gra. All those clips of In Melbourne tonight are just dire. He wasn’t funny at all until Blankety Blanks (and Don’s party).

You’ve gotta move on, Vegan. They’re simply talking about the equity of globalisation – a dollar is worth more to these foreign types. Why confuse them by giving them so many all at once? I mean, $1 per hour would be good going in Guangzhou… and they can even have donga accommodation thrown in!

Snuff Parrot Thanks for your kind message, Frank, and for passing on Rolly’s concern. In my part of Japan the earthquake was only magnitude 4, so although the building shook like a proverbial, everything’s just fine, and my charmed existence continues for another day. No doubt you’ve all seen the pictures, so you’ll appreciate that everyone here is busy doing whatever they can to assist the recovery. Thanks again.

Thanks for asking, Rolly. I just got a message on FB from Frank.

It’s a bit of a nightmare here at the moment, as I’m sure you can imagine having no doubt seen the surreal scenes of destruction.

I’m one of the lucky unscathed ones, so I’ve been busy checking on all of those I know from the worst hit areas, and replying to kind messages of concern from all over the world. It’s a stretch to muster much mirth under the circumstances, but for what it’s worth, the studio newsreaders are still wearing hard hats.

Pretty much my idea of pergatory too. I can’t think of much worse than being stuck in a bogan ute with a piece of white trash. All he needs on the back is Southern Cross and Fuck Off We’re Full stickers on the back to compliment the Confederate Flag sticker. I’m sure he was probably playing Acca/Dacca, P!nk or Ke$ha on the radio.
