The Fright before Christmas.

From Jo. Jo says…

King Street Between Hay / St G Tce.   This is my absolute fave.  There is a series of painted scenes hanging over the street.  The best of which is the nativity scene – Mary looks as if she is wearing the hijab, whilst Joseph is doing his best Osama Bin Laden impersonation.  The cow and the horse are quite animated looking at the baby jesus and who wouldn’t be when he looks like an albino “chicko” lollie!  And to top it all off, one of the angels is looking at the cow’s bum and has her hands in the air as if she just saw something unusual…

Thanks Jo. I think Joseph actually has a false beard. The Bubby J does look a little uncomfortable if not lifeless. Would it kill someone to give him a pillow?

I’m thinking the “artist” ran out of ideas, paint and cares or grant money by the time they got to jebus.

To Jo – If it seems strange that Mary and Joseph vaguely resemble Middle Eastern people, well… that’s cos they were. If you’re expecting Jesus to look more like Brad Pitt with a tan and a five o’clock shadow than a guy who you would call the anti-terrorism hotline over if you saw on the street, you’re going to be sorely disappointed.

    Right, Mullah.

Now if only we could get the reality of the *sameness* of races into people’s heads that would eliminate at least one excuse for internecine extravaganzas.
Then we might get to work on intrafamilial conflict.

    (LA, sorry. I’m ranting again.)
