Parklet as final nail

The grim, depressing sight as a parklet delivery wagon hoves into sight in Subiaco. You might as well be entering a suicide pact in the witches kitchen as it reverses, ramming ever more bitter garlic prawns up your arse. I was thinking today that Bayswater is the Subi that never was. Crackpot locals in both locations are determined that each suburb must be shit. Subi had to divest interesting features, Bayswater has to prevent any occurring. I’m dreading the inevitable Kalamunda parklet craze.

Other than the Subi markets and Station St markets I’m curious as to what Subi has divested itself of? I do miss the cheap veges and bowl of pho over the weekend. The vege guys are back on Roberts Rd and quality has improved. The pho guy moved to the Wembley Hotel food court which lacks the grunge of the old market site which was part of the experience.

The Subi Hotel was well ahead of the whole gastro-pub thing there (replicated at the Vic if you could be bothered walking that far). For a while there was some good frock shops on Hay St for those that like that stuff.

Agreed it has just been on the slide for a long time. Council must bear a significant portion of the blame handing over parking to the anal raping vultures at Wilson Parking. I suspect the real blame lies with the landlords and their agents who price out the quirky, interesting shops. Just as they have always done.

Kalamunda parklet would be just gravel and parrot bush, surely?
