Poignant visit to the shack I lived in after I was born. (Wheatbelt )The bottles of Export seemed so much larger when I was a baby.

Yep….. 26 fl oz was the go back then. Also this rather fine drop was brewed on Mounts Bay Road right at the base of Mt Eliza and almost on the river. Most people would be shocked to hear that Perth was actually once a very beautiful charming city with so much of interest before the money grubbers with no sophistication whatsoever began pulling it up and dropping it down and carving it up into the drab and dull wasteland that it is today. Just saying, you know…… Life today in that wheatbelt shack seems more appealing somewhat.

As an aside, in 1991 group of us rented a top floor room at what is now the Rendezvous Hotel in Mount Street specifically to witness the dawn execution by explosion of the old Emu Brewery.
Fucked if I know how we managed to be so organised back then (rest assured, it was a one off), but I still dimly recall snippets of the implosion after pulling a very solid all-nighter.
I suspect the remains a sense of investment and brand loyalty because of it.

Nice pic.
I have a genuine affection for both the WA Wheatbelt and an icy cold Export. Whilst not fashionable, I continue to quietly indulge in both these guilty pleasures on a regular basis.
Maybe I need to turn the Worsting mirror on myself. The awful truth may well be staring me in the face.

I might consider Export if it wasn’t imported.

When I was a baby I couldn’t reach up that high for beer bottles but being a baby in the Wheatbelt must have been thirsty work
