Invaders Unplugged

Bento saw this lovely brickwork in West Perth. Looks like it may soon be gone. But I’m glad he recorded it for us. This really is great.space

Typical fucking motorist, parks all day across the footpath. No regard whatsoever for pedestrians or people with mobility scooters. And they wonder why their vehicles get KEYED.

When life gives you lemons…….Rather than mourn, why don’t we treat this as a case study in Worksite Worsting for the younger player.

    1. Fastwall bricks going up right on the property line, forever bitch slapping the smile off a geeky yet uber-cool and noteworthy Perth facade. Tick
    2. Grano workers have chosen to drive straight over the road sign in the traditional tradies ‘fuck you’ driving style. Tick
    3. Site supervisor’s metallic green Holden HSV Maloo V8 ute is seen here completely obstructing both the footpath and verge in the preferred ‘fuck you’ style of Perth parking. Tick

Other aspects to consider here are:

    4. Odds on favourite is this new building has been designed in the Perth ‘fuck you’ style of bunkeresque architecture. Only time will tell
    5. A somewhat ironic Bondy era Cocos Palm can be seen cautiously peeking over the rampart watching the battle unfold which is a nice touch.
    6. Norfolk Island Pine in the background displying excellent vitality possibly in readiness for the Satterley’s to raze at a later date.

Player One – Guess it’s game over for you. Sweet while it lasted though

Cocos Palms do not peek cautiously. They stand tall and proud,

Your knowledge of ‘matters palmistry’ is impressive sir.

As an embryo (with a long, long way to go) I stand corrected.

Cocos never made sense without monkeys. Feral Rainbow Lorikeets like them so why can’t we have some monkeys. Little green snotcoloured fuckers. How can we be part of Asia without monkeys. Anyway trees in general are dated because kids are too lazy to climb them now.

      RoE;
      1. Agreed.
      2. Could be a little hasty in your assessment there. More likely a dopey truck driver delivering building materials, rather than the grano workers.
Most truckies have little idea of what their back wheels are doing, or where they are.
      3. It amazes me that other councils besides PCC and Subiaco haven’t latched onto the goldmine that is parking infringements. It’s a $65 penalty to block a footpath with a vehicle.
Even in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, you’ll be pinged faster than the PCC can hit you, the instant you park a wheel on a footpath.
Enforcing parking infringements in the ‘burbs would create enough additional money flow to pay all their Shire amalgamation resistance costs, and give them enough left over, to build another 3 monuments to every councillor.
Another pet hate of mine is this stunt of people parking on the wrong side of the road, facing the wrong way (charge – “parking contrary to the flow of traffic”).
Another $65 penalty that could yield another $36.6M for every council annually, if enforced.
It should be enforced, it’s dangerous, it’s dumb, and it shows how many people don’t even know basic road rules.
      4. Bunkeresque. Yes, I like that description. All too common today, and very apt.
      5. If you’ve ever been to Cocos, you should understand that Cocos Palms don’t peek. They reign, like monarchs.
      6. Even Norfolk Pines are powerless against the dreaded (“gasp”) …… Developer …..

    Have I scoffed prematurely?

Maybe this new construction will take it to the next level and depict epic plays from Galaga in masonry relief as an homage to the early ’80s battle for arcade game supremacy. Or is this the Super Mario Bros delivering le coup de grace by finally kicking the chair out from under Space Invaders fading star?
