I tend to think that by the time the location is called “dog swamp”, a vet visit is simply threading the funeral garland, as it were.

Dog swamp is a descriptor which refers to the once prevalent dingo.
Yokine – close suburb – is similarly named, the word being an aboriginal name for dog.
The name is frequently used pejoratively, but less so than the not-too-distant Innaloo ;)
