I don’t really know what to say’, but P says, ”
Oldfield Knott Architects propose a rework of the Peninsula Tavern site (owned by ALH Group), which looks more like Galleria Shopping Centre with a Dan Murphies tacked on to the side. ”
If shedist architects start taking notice of this blog, the the future of the city is going to be fucking magnificent! Anyone have a shot of the New Pen proposal? Whatever it looks like, will be nice to have somewhere to wait sipping a Fluffy Duck waiting for a Mad Kuntz booth to free up.
Wait, they cite this blog and then put fucking Cocoses in the artist impression? And another thing. It is nowhere near the actual Maylands Peninsula.
The original “fuck the Penn!”

More like a Dan Murphys with some filigree Siberian retros 60s barn attached.Note the focus on the bottle shop in that blurry photo. This is where ALH Gruppen earn.

I would like to see a clearer depiction of the proposal before slagging it off.

Im not sure that rendering above is the one i saw in their coloured information brochure. Its the same group who turned the Hyde Park Hotel upside down. Will try to hunt this down.

As seems to be illustrated, did they mention the complete bulldozing of all surrounding structures to the horizon in the ‘revitalization’ plan?

What really needs to happen is that the original pub, now Dome, becomes the ppub again. Raze the Pen and put some big screens and grass in and make it an entertainment activation node.

Agreed – that beauty should go back to being the pub – skimpies on the upper level balconies

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that the Maylands Peninsula (actual, not booze-addled) seen from the air looks massively scrotey? Nature’s own C&B – perhaps a likeness could be the new Pen’s logo? Bar staff to wear on white polo shirts &c.

Totes. What would also be nice would be a nice Raffles style hotel (or what was that one in Mosman Park?) actually on the end of the peninsula

The Mosman Park Hotel was never anything to write home about, but it seems to scrub up okay as apartments.

The original proposal back in 2008 or something was going to be much better. New pub, bottle shop and apartments. Four or five storeys. Was scuppered by the GFC though apparently. So replace run down piece of crap with a new piece of shit instead. Shame.
