The Court Hotel – I WILL SURVIVE

This may be old. It may even be bogus. Perhaps The Court or a Drag Queen could tell us about their current workchoice agreements. $80 does sound a bit low for these times. They forgot to add, “Break a leg. X X X.” at the end. I don’t know whether these stringent conditions are even possible. No repeat of songs for 12 months? What, you’ve got half a dozen Abbas, a couple of Kylies, One Gloria Gaynor, some Bathory and that’s it. Even one show a month would put a big strain on the setlist.
(Icily) I believe you performed Waterloo 9 months ago. NO SHOWS FOR YOU!” It certainly puts the kybosh on the “I will survive” marathon. I like that drink scamming only gets you 6 months, but repeating a song gets you 12. Nice. By MM.

Could this no-repeat rule possibly be extended to non-drag queen performers in shitty cover bands playing in shitty pubs that seem to believe Mustang Sally is the apogee of music since 1950?

p.s. Unless you happen to be Barry Humphries, men who think parodying women is entertainment should be paying me $80.

Okay, knowing what I know of Perth drag scene this sort of thing is not advocated by The Court staff or management (or atleast not now) I think it’s just there to frighten off routine performers, they do work hard and the Court recognizes that. This is just rubbish; it’s either old or fake.

Not quite on topic – Is it true that the Quokka building used to be a brothel?

Is there some warbling Wintoning – possibly in a plane-trip induced flashback – to be mined, here?

I’m far more a Cave of Creativity man myself.

Has that weird, kookily architectured Fremantle counselling-cum-God-knows-what centre near the corner of Stirling and High been covered before? I’ve always meant to have a closer look, but the missus, having a deep instinctive aversion to the place, always hurries me past.

I’m not sure Shazz – it hurts to look at, but appears to consist of several smallish 70s buildings grouped around a courtyard. Next to the Greg’s Chemist. There are hand-drawn signs and a second-hand clothing outlet somehow connected with the natural therapy/counselling malarkey. I walk past it quite often but somehow manage to blank it out.

You mean this place under the gaint Moreton Bay, NF#1 ?

As it happens, the old two storey place on the right was my family doctor’s surgery when I was chiaking, and I’d always be bought jelly beans from the pharmacy as some kind of compensation. The building I think you’re referring to wasn’t there then, but looks like it might have been built when the pharmacy was refurbished.

Oh that place. Of more interest Snuff is next door to that shot. The new East End Bar (formerly a Rosie O’Gradys I think). I may be there this Fri eve and on the look out for Worsts.

Oh yes Shazz, the East End does look promising from without.

Snuff’s streetview photo must be quite old, and although it only barely hints at the horror, the collapsing parking meter is a nice touch.

Judging by the courier new font I’m betting its from the early 90s. Also, I read in the memo that repeating a song within twelve months only get you a six month ban – not a 12 month ban.

Adshead is stealing your mojo again
he ran this story on Inside Cover, with accreditation to TWoP, and managed to get a comment from the Classy Cheese herself. She claims the memo is either very old, or maybe a mock-up by the campaign to make the Court Hotel more gay
