Zui bu hao…

A number of people were apparently under the impression that I was joking about doing Chinese brush calligraphy classes in Claremont! WTF? Chinese brush calligraphy is a subject I NEVER joke about. Although these are my first attempts, I think they can be judged worst, especially since I was born a Si Ma Kuang man…perthgui

  1. You people who sit behind your fucking brushes and inkstones and criticise. Get a life.

I’m taking a punt that this is the same guy? Sounds like you have a lot in common. He lived an honest, upright and simple life and was renown for his virtue of consciousness which you exhibit here on a daily basis and he had great skills. Another thing you share with us all.

Haven’t seen anyone asking you for moral advice yet but that could all change.

” Not only did Si-ma Guang possess great skills, he also possessed virtue. One day Si-ma Guang contemplated his life.

He realized that he was no greater than other people and what he had was the virtue of conscience.

The civilians in Shan Zhou and Luo Yan were so moved by his virtue that they would ask him for moral advice.”

that lower picture seems to be the same characters saying the same thing over and over again.

    • I wish they did. BTW that reminds me I nneed a “backup” of Girl Talk from you.

This character may have been associated with patrick Swayze at one time. And again now perhaps. No Snuff today? He would recognise it, as the Japaneser version is I think the same.

I’m downloading the album he released before that one as we speak. He does that thing where you can download them for a donation.

… and so I finally stagger in. What a day. Anyway, nice work, TLA. The second one, if the Chinese is the same, is definitely 鬼. I’m a bit foxed by the first character in the top one , however, and the second one’s got me stuffed. The rest I think I get, if again the Japanese and Chinese aren’t too different, so I’ll hazard a guess at I don’t like the worst of Perth. I’ve emailed the link to one of my students at Honda R & D whom I know works with their Chinese division, so all will soon be revealed.

I actually think the correct translation is “Patty Chong is a Vibrant Individual. May her bucket forever be fragrant.”

I trust that the character practised in the second photo is appropriately vulgar

I reckon most clearly expressed in 2nd from top in left column: ‘Perth on the nose’.

Alternate: Literally ‘nose in pants’ but probably expressed as ‘bend to my longing’.
