Ben, you’ve got a friend in me.

Ben, the two of us need look no more
We both found what we were looking for
With a friend to call my own
I’ll never be alone
And you, my friend, will see
You’ve got a friend in me

Curious sent in this shot from Stirling Street. Curious says, “Rats? what the fuck?” What the fuck indeed Curious. I suspect they’re not supposed to be rats. Perhaps possums.  Or maybe they are supposed to be rats. If they are rats, then I like it. If  Possums, I don’t.

I’m not too keen on the 9. Or the fauna and flaura. I feel compelled to grab mulch, some grevillias and execute a midnight mercy dash.

Some of my best friends are rats… and I tell ya they ain’t from no bloody yuppy ag school … they know the hardships of life and live the darn things every bloody day … So ya can stick ya comments about them all being ag college yuppies up ya rear ends …

At least rats know how to live life, enjoy the moment and have time for their families … Not rush to work every morning, come home late, force the kids into day care, and only go on expensive holidays to place where you will only spend all day on the phone or internet …

I welcome what anyone in here can throw at me and I will show you the logic in it … Not everyone can understand the rats life without living it …

    etc…

I’d say a rats life is a bittersweet existence. You work hard at a demanding job but you also get to experience the beauty of the land, the true feeling of a close knit community and i think best of all… you develop some very strong mates through the most trying of times. I love the lifestyle and wouldn’t want to live any other life, even if it does mean hearing some rather offensive comments on this forum.

I think some of you should be very ashamed of your ignorance and name calling.

Rats don’t have a monopoly on hard work, close communities, appreciation of beauty or friendship. Those things are also open to mice, hamsters, lemmings, voles, muskrats, gerbils (Hi DFOC!), guinea pigs, chinchillas, and dormouses. But rats sure as hell take the cake when it comes to complaining.

And they are definitely native animals, of some sort…

I have to know margeryx what the fuck place of business is it? I have been wondering.

This isn’t worst, I drive down Stirling St every day and I am drawn to look at it every day, unlike the rest of Stirling St which I avert my gaze from.

The building was formerly “Book Land”. The whole building is a worst – its like they gave up on the rennovation half-way through. The artwork is pretty hideous. But yeah, Stirling St needs to start somewhere….

margeryx, when are you moving in? (I live right near this building, it will be good to have a bit more life, of any description, around here)

The renovation is ongoing, a number of relocation dates have been suggested, each new one a little further into the future.

And so we beat on, boats against the tide…
