Was thinking about suggestions for The Worst of Perth vision for the Sept 3rd show, when I got a submission from DFOC giving me a blinding insight on how to revive The Cultural Centre and with it Perth. More crackpots! I must get back to Council House for another tete a tete with Lisa She-Ra Scaffidi. Falun Gong, have been trying to fill too big a space there for too long, but now they have assistance from 9-11 Truthers. Is that laughing man a truther DFOC? A sense of humour and truth telling don’t often go together.
I’m envisioning the city and Northbridge linked not by sinking the railway, but by raising the crackpots. Why are we getting dumbarse US crackpots though? Why do we not have a group claiming that Yagan’s head was not removed by settlers, but by mysterious beams coming from Mt Eliza? While I doubt you’ll receive an avalanche of comments, because as by your own deduction people you believe likely to respond do actually spend their spare time on the internet looking up far more relevant stuff than what’s covered here on “The Worst of Perth,” you haven’t actually provided any debunking in what you’ve said there. And actually I’d like to know when someone who YOU refer to as “Truthers and other tinfoil hatters” actually defined anything in the manner you explained there, including actually blaming Google. I am quite happy to discuss the collapse of Building 7 with you, the ACE report was quite clear that the collapse was due to fire and not impact damage. I can also enlighten you on piss poor US building codes that do not address key elements or progressive collapse, which have been in British codes ever since the Irish got twitchy. Oklahoma was a prime example of poor American design of multistorey structures. I am also happy to describe to you why the twin towers collapsed as they did, exactly two hours after impact, which was their design fire rating, and what happens to structural steelwork when subjected to high temperatures from ignited jet fuel.

‘Peer reviewed’ takes on a less rigorous meaning if by peers Andrew you mean your own peers. Truthers reviewing each other’s 911 theories is in the strictest sense peer reviewing, but it doesn’t mean the theories hold up.

When the jump is taken from sceptic to crackpot (or more likely a direct leap to crackpot) credible evidence does not cause said crackpot to reconsider their views, it just shows them that the conspiracy is even more feindish than at first thought. The weight of evidence against them and the paucity of their own ravings are a POSITIVE reinforcement.
Truthers, ufologist, crop circle-atarians all have this trait. It also requires the iron will to resist running even the lightest of Occham’s razors over your arguments. A cackpot will see a crop circle and think alien.
There’s something lacking in the personality. Worse with 9-11 truthers, because their self loathing and emptiness feeds off other people’s pain.
Give me an honest crop circle-atarian any day. Harmless dumbarsery. 9-11 Truthers are crackpots with an added streak of cruelty.
