With the original Patti Chong post within a few hundred views of being the most popular ever, (just behind the Worst of the West Australian) with nearly 4000 views and about 400 comments, I thought you’d like this. There is also a TV ad to match. Merrys has featured on TWOP before, you may remember. I don’t quite see the interest in La Chong myself, but let the stats roll on as Chong fans pile on.
Regardless of whether youse guys hate her or not, or if that firebrand poster with the tenuous grip on literacy and sanity is her or not…
… she’s not exactly top o’ the pile when I think of Perthonalities I’d want to shill for my company.
(And a lady of a certain age spruiking the benefits of cowhide leather? It’s just too obvious. Personally, I am well above that level of humour and vitriol… mostly.)

Even so, it was still a piss poor turn out for a “Rally for Justice” – the last one Sattler organised after the Blurton deaths drew over 100,000.
And I note on a certain Scanning website that I lurk on there are photos of a large number of police cars at the rally, which meant that the majority of cops were on duty at the time – if it was a normal workers rally, these dame “workers” would be saked for attending such a rally – talk about double standards.

I have seen the photos and I will go with the ABC’s estimate of ‘over a thousand’, especially since the ABC are the only agency without an axe to grind on this issue, or papers to sell.
note that the WorkChoices rally in Nov ’05 got over 10,000, but despite that and the election victory the Opposition does not believe that the Government has a mandate to remove WorkChoices.

Click here to listen to 6PR’s Simon Beaumont interview Michael Guppy, the teenager who did the home invasion and assault, after he was spared going to jail. Apparently he’s no longer involved with the co-offender’s daughter anymore. Beaumont admits that he was backgrounded by Ms Chong before the interview and invites Guppy to talk about his ‘rough childhood’ etc. Afterwards he seems to praise the kid for expressing remorse. A bit soft I thought. The one talkback caller recorded at the end wasn’t impressed much by it all either.

Patti has “pulling power”, and is a gay icon. Two things I didn’t know about her.
I also note that she “likes a level playing field” yet has no issue with jumping queues by utilising her notoriety. Same sort of thing Kizon would do isn’t it?

oh Lordy, she’s still pitching to be a judge. I would have thought that her comments about the treatment of her former husband by the CCC would have queered that for her, not to mention the furniture ads and the relentless self-promotion. ‘I’ve got the qualifications and all the characteristics necessary to be a judge.’ Are modesty and discretion necessary character traits for a judge? Is being the laughing stock of your profession a hindrance? I note that she didn’t answer whether she had ambitions to elected office. Small mercies.
and I’ve been to that restaurant. It’s distinctly underwhelming.

I like the judiciary better when it can clearly articulate its analytic processes but perhaps I’m just being elitist and we should have stupid incoherent self-promoters instead.
