I came across this great display a couple of days ago. I better not say where. It takes me back though. Squeezing the last mouthful from 4 (and sometimes 5) litres of Paddlewheel.

And some less pleasant interior design can be acheived with a sphinx lamp.

I’ll be in Bunbury for some of today, so I’m packing an extra 8gig hi speed card for the camera, because, well it’s Bunbury.

Liam sends an amazing link from Realestate website of what at first looks like a dull house in Padbury, but turns out to be a dull house with a poledancing studio. Go through the “other images” to get the gold. Image removed. TWOP strikes again?

A House is not a home…

Mr_JC rightly asks why we haven’t featured Tony Sadler before. How worst is that guy? That voice that droned like a dying dog in Perth heads for how long? 35 years? “A house is not a home without Tony Sadler.” A phrase that is a mixture of menace and insanity.

Tony used to be teh man, but I always wonder if he suffered too much from competition from The Textile Trader. Or The Toilet Trader as we call him at home. Mr_JC’s pic has the perfect level of oversaturation to suit Sadler. Thanks Mr_JC. On the other hand, Tony is still going long after yer Vox Adeons et al have departed the scene.

Speaking of interiors and furniture, here’s a custom kitchen interior, not from the Sadler Superstore. Burnt orange never went away. Nor should it have. Curtin University.

Instead of international worsts, I thought I’d use this worstoff to try and clear just a few of the giant backlog of submissions. A couple of people have been after this lovely sticker. Fuck off we’re full. Finally captured by Chris.

Cunt really has become the word of the year hasn’t it? (It’s the new bastard I hear.) Alex snapped this in his architecture class as Curtin. I’m really more worried about the person who is hanging themselves in the background. What’s the future of architecture in Perth looking like Alex? Some more budding Convention Centre designers in this year’s crop?

There has been some discussion about fading Chinese restaurants in Perth. here is a shot of the interior of the Ambassador in Cannington I found in my archives. Former Gold plate, now just white plate. I still don’t have a shot of The Firecracker.

I’ve been waiting for this place in Inglewood to be converted into a vanished worst for a very long time. I originally chose it for that stupid Chineser font that gets used every time something Asian is advertised. Dial a chopstix? Ai Ya! But I really liked the old rotary dial phone graphic. A concept now definitely vanished. The interior is rather modern chic too.

Has the boom reached such an extent that some Perthons would actually be in the market for this neo Third Reich side table? I’d go for a giant plasma or V8 ute myself. The only way it could look good is in the ruins of a bombed building. There are a pair of them in Hay Street Subi if you have Napoleon’s bed – or a cache of weapons.

Jackson Bollocked

Don’t really know what category to put this one in. Perhaps Worst Architecture, because I am sure that when Jackson’s Hotel in Lord Street East Perth, (Formerly The Norwood, ) is demolished, what replaces it will not be an improvement. How about a light brick office complex with some lattice, or perhaps some nice eaveless apartments? The interior design courtesy of street kids is interesting though. I was able to hold the camera up to a smashed window. If they did restore the old place, it might be worth keeping. I think “Worst preservation of old hotel” could be a new category.

Worst Architecture/Carpet/interior design

Lovely words and pictures from Mazarina, although pictures always suffer a little out of a word doc for some reason. Now this building has been frequently suggested for The Worst of Perth, but I have to admit that I like it. A lot. It has some interesting angles. Some people have referred to it as KGB headquarters, but I even like the carpet. Mazarina says…

What says welcome to the ‘State of Excitement’ better than the cutting edge architecture of East Perth train station? I think the yellow skip bin art installation adds a jaunty touch. Perhaps it’s a clever device to catch employees jumping out of their windows.

Break out the corduroy beanbags because it’s ALWAYS 1975 in the office block at East Perth. I’m guessing this is why all the chairs have been unceremoniously dumped in the passage. Unfortunately my camera does not have smell-o-vision, so I couldn’t capture the full vintage charm of the groovy carpet. And of course too much brown was never enough in the 70s, hence the need to couple the carpet with stylish wood panelling. Yeah baby.

Worst Toilet/Interior Design/Tiles/

This is the gents at The Swan Inn on Stirling Highway Fremantle. That’s Jarrad. He is part of The Jeff Strong Band, and shouldn’t really be in The Worst of Perth, because they were pretty good. There’s a poster highlighting depression on the wall. Those tiles are not helping.

Re: Below. I was told that there is no corrsponding sign in the ladies saying Jarrad might come a knockin. (If this toilet’s rockin…)
