A week to go: as prayers are affected by the wind, competitive worship is done indoors.

Is Santa a Fantapants? Would he die for me, and can he do a vertical jump smash? We’ll never know. Mt Lawley? Maylands? Opposite Mercy Hospital, anyway.

Krazy Kym has been dropping hints all week about with what she wants me to stuff her stockings, but I got the message loud and clear these Linneys creations are not required.

I am baffled. Armageddon happened on Wednesday and I missed it.

Stop the shuttlecock-bashing, skull-worshipping, Santa-pantsing, end-of-the-world madness. Just stop it.

If Salvador Dali had snorted cocaine off the oiled belly of Dr Parnassus and sneezed into an XXX-rated version of High 5 being watched by a jaded Hunter S. Thompson pretending to be Paul Murray writing tomorrow’s column – it might have come close to these three images from JJ. Don’t look too closely at the reflection in that second image lest you be turned into a pillar of dukkah.

Thank God for Bento and the simple worsts he sees while taking the missus to the zoo.

Mostly the North Vietnamese didn’t destroy churches, but apparently this local priest did a bit of spying for the South on the side, so they bombed it and killed him.

Then someone drew a willy on it.

Bothering the Botherers

Two graffitis, one from the god bothering community, and one from the god bothering botherers. Don’t you think it a little outre that someone liking God would graffiti a place of worship? When I worked in film and video, it did always piss me off that one of the best video production facilities in Perth had been taken over by Salvos. This is the former Taimac on William Street Northbridge, now a temple to some dumbarsery or other. But when it was a video facility, it was also a temple to dumbarsery i suppose, but not quite as dumb as it is now. And speaking of religious worsts, a recent trip to Rottnest reminded me how we were forced to go to church every day at this chapel while on holiday. We didn’t go to church every day when at home. Fucking outrage!

This from Garry. Seen in Fremantle. Looks like they’ve got John Singleton in to do their marketing. Awful sign. One last one for Easter.

Talking about Jesus jockeys, I saw this plate in a shop. The building is still there in Beaufort Street. All very worthy, but wouldn’t a building in this position be better put to use as an instant print shop, or one of Chas Hopkin’s office furniture outlets? The plate looks nice. Lose the Lord and something might still be made of the place.

Weekend Worstoff 21

Just another reminder of the sinister hold pap merchant Andre Rieu has over the city. This is just a small section of the wall of DVD’s. If you’ve never heard his spine shredding version of Waltzing Matilda… Imagine a trio with Clayderman on keys, Rieu on Violin, and Kenny G on Sax doing “I just called to say I love you”. Then imagine them being tortured for their crimes.

Who's a plonker?

I snapped this one of the nose cone of St Mary’s Cathedral being fitted with nuclear weapons before being put in place. The sign says something about bringing the church into the 21st century. Wouldn’t that mean shrinking it, rather than expanding it? Some sort of phone booth sized kiosk would be sufficient wouldn’t it?

Another couple from Turf. I’m still not sure what to do with the volume of submissions. 2 a day, or do a mammoth post with dozens of pics? Anyhow, Turf, who still has more, snaps two worsts in one blow, with a hand painted Pepsi sign with an Italian mansion behind it in Seaview Street Beaconsfield.

Aguirre The Clown of God

Does anyone, ANYONE know what’s going on in this video? The guys in the hats looking slightly more ridiculous than the guy who appears to be an actual clown. What was in the matchbox that passed hands? Mull seeds? A piece of the true cross? Mull seeds? The feather duster and the trolley laden with piss? I was brought up a catholic, and I’ve never seen anything like this before. Apart from the piss of course. I’m glad I walked through town last week.

Carlisle existence is suffering

Do you want four paths to the cessation of suffering with that? A drive-through Buddhist temple in Carlisle. I’ve always felt that individuals were trapped in an endless cycle of birth, death and suffering in the whole Carlisle area, particularly at the Orrong Road end, however an observance of moral precepts is not really the bag of Carlisle residents is it? The cycle continues.
