Sandringham

Back to a sort of more traditional worst, the rotunda thing at The Sandringham Hotel in Belmont, which EV  saw was set to be demolished. I seem to remember videoing some obscenity like an Italian engagement or similar that culminated on top here in the 80s. No doubt the Cocos will still be extant long after the limestone is gone.

Nice one, EV. That second shot is very Planet of the Apes.

  2. shazza says:

Was that a bar underneath? If so I’m tending not worst.

    • E.V. says:

I believe so, Shazza. The bars are still intact , although warped now. If you look under the rollerdoors, there’s some old fridges and glass trays. I’m still trying to find out if I ever drank here. I took part in many pub crawls by bus in the 80′s (All my friends were getting married) and if we stopped here I was probably too pissed to remember .

the redevelopment of the old part of the Sandringham was held up in planning approvals for several years, which is why the new pub was built in front of it and the old part left standing

planning approval has now been resolved and the old pub is to be demolished and another delightful highrise condo will be put on the site, similar to all the others crowding the Belmont Lido.

but just look at the views they’ll get

Straight into the window of some wrinkly old couple having it off on the fitted carpet. (They couldn’t afford such luxuries in their younger days.)

Is that where the term ‘bukker mentality’ comed from – Perth town-planners?
